They also helped me out with a ride from Bogotá to Salento when there were no buses that day and sorted out a bus ticket to San Agustin whilst I was in El Cocuy.

There are plenty of places to eat and buy souvenirs and crafts etc.
About half an hour from Villa de Leyva is Raquira which is also worth visiting. Again, very pretty with a lovely plaza and many colonial buildings. It is well known for ceramics so there are loads of shops selling pretty (and sometimes tacky!) ceramics. Highly recommended for a short trip.
